A Couple Cards

I love making handmade cards! Unfortunately, I don't always have the time to make personalized cards, but here are 3 that I was able to squeeze in this past winter. I have been painting with oil and acrylic a lot, so cards give me the freedom to use different mediums.

This one is in watercolour. (I'd really like to make more interior scenes especially of places I photographed in the United Kingdom.)

This is a card of William Wordsworth's Rydal Mount that I drew with coloured pencils. If you'd like to view more of my excursion to the Lake District, you can read my post entitled, "A Weekend in the Lake District."

 This is unfortunately the best picture I have of this card that I designed for my friends' 1920's themed wedding. The glue and paint warped it terribly, but I caked it in glitter to try to save it. Hey Bay-Bay!

Here's a card that I drew for one of my best friends!

It's Puppers! "Son-nee."

He's part border-collie, part gentleman and what I would imagine would result if a seal and My Little Pony mated...if that's even possible. He's the apple of my friend's eye and her little Bay-Bay. "Sonny, NO!"
I'll like to do a companion piece to this one, same dog, but in a bonnet thus forever securing my reputation as Angela Martin.

Austrian Cards

It has been a busy week. Not only did our local production of The Sound of Music open on Thursday night, I celebrated my birthday on Friday. I had several fellow cast members who were also celebrating their birthdays this week and I was resolved to personalize a card for each of them. The cards feature scenic views of Austria- you know, where the hills are alive with musical sounds apparently. Incidentially, each card also contains a mountain. I guess I set out to "Draw every mountain and ford every stream...until I found my dream."  

This one was for Mother Abbess- That's Nonnberg Abbey in Salzberg in the foreground.

This one is for Sister Sophia. She actually hasn't seen it yet-I'm hoping she loves it!

 This one went to Maria. It reminds me of the canoe scene in the film version of The Sound of Music.

And this one was given to our director. It wasn't his birthday, but he deserved a card on opening night...

Okay, so this last one drawn with Conte crayon was actually not the card.  I regret to inform you that I didn't get a chance to take the picture of the final card but it looked a lot like this one. In fact, I used this as a reference. It should also be noted that the original mountain that I drew was not located in Austria--Try New Zealand, but when I imagine the VonTrapps fleeing the Nazis, they are climbing over this baby.

I'll post more about the show as the run progresses...Or not...I may just spend all my free time on Pinterest. The site that has successfully prevented me from doing anything else productive since I finally figured out how to use it. But if I do blog about anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

Glitter

I really love glitter. I had that thought yesterday. I wouldn't mind having a tube of glitter of every colour, but would settle for the Martha Stewart 24 colour collection. Why haven't I broken down and purchased this yet?

Ah! Aren't they lovely.

Yes, but glitter truly makes everything better. I once thought if spiders were covered in glitter, I might not be so creeped out by them. If only.

Here's a little card I made for my little cousin from a museum brochure and a little glitter. Hope she likes it!
