joy.

Here's my latest pillow design!

It's a pocket too! And who doesn't like pockets?

Rolling in the Deep

So I've considered making these picture frames and possibly selling them on etsy for awhile, but after this last frame I've decided that they are far too time consuming. I really like how they turn out though. I made one for my friend and decided I wanted one of my own.  It looks really easy, right? Nope. It took me the length of an entire movie to roll the magazine ads alone. Then I glued them to the frame which took all of 2 hours. So roughly 4 hours for something that looks like it was made by a kindergartner. I really like the side of the frame and the crisp edge once I cut the rolls, but I didn't think to take a picture of that.  You'll just have to swing by and see it for yourself.

Look what Zog do!

The continuation of a previous post: Spooning

I finally made some progress on crafting a spoon ring. I can wear it, but it is clearly my first try. This one isn't that ornate either, so I wasn't too devastated when I made an accidental gash here and there. And let me tell you, there are a lot of them. I'm glad that my mom had the appropriate tools all except a polisher or an emery cloth. So I'm going to have to deal with the knicks and scrapes for awhile. Now I've got this urge to scour the land for unwanted spoons and can't wait for rummage sale season to begin!

Twilight Saga | Volume 4 Pillow

Alas, here is the pillow designed and inspired by the Stephanie Meyer's novel, "Breaking Dawn". Now for sale at lapinedesign on Etsy.

Twilight Saga | Volume 3 Pillow

So I'm happy with how this one turned out. It's very simple and sleek and now available to buy at lapinedesign on Etsy.

Here is Eclipse:

Twilight Saga | Volume 2 Pillow

The design of this pillow is inspired by the Stephenie Meyer's novel "New Moon". Easily my favourite in the saga, this pillow was possibly the most difficult to make. This is the first attempt, but I'm hoping that I'll get a chance to make a couple more.

Oh yeah, and it is now available for purchase at my Etsy shop, lapinedesign! You can also reach the shop by clicking on any of these images.

As always, Thank you for reading!

Twilight Saga | Volume 1 Pillow

I am pleased to announce the first pillow in my Twilight inspired series is now available at my shop, lapinedesign on Etsy. Here's what it looks like:

Spooning

When I asked my mom, who worked in a jewelry shop once upon a time, if we could make our own spoon rings, she replied, "Oh sure! That's easy."

False.

These were the antique victims. Thought to be ornate and vintage, yet are without sentimental value to anyone I know.

Close up- See, It's pretty and would make a dainty ring, right?

Come on, how difficult could this be? I just use a rubber mallet and the ring tools and Voila! Ring!

Wrong. I really have no idea how I was going to remove the ladle portion of this spoon either.

So what am I left with?

A weird hook. Which is good for ...? Suggestions? The ladle is wonky now because I grew frusterated and just started bashing the crap out of it.

In case anyone else ever walks by a basket of elegant spoons in an antique shop and thinks ,"I should make a spoon ring out of those!". Good Luck!

Of course, I don't give up (most of the time)...So, I plan to post a follow up to this and as God is my witness I will someday sport a spoon ring!

Select Dance Academy | 2011 Recital

My latest project was to design a t-shirt for the Select Dance Academy 's upcoming spring recital. The shirts will be worn by students that participate in the show. It was decided that the shirts would be hot pink with neon green and black accents. Here are the designs that were offered to the Performing Arts Center.

I would actually wear this on a t-shirt. Of course that would mean that I would have to either perform in a recital or choreography something in this recital...which, let's face it, will NEVER happen. ;)
Did Olivia Newton John wear this in the "Physical" music video? She could have. This should be made into a sweat shirt that has the collar torn off and is stretched over one shoulder. OOH! Or it could be a vintage Barbie sweat shirt! Do they make screen prints that small?

I know I designed this, but the design with the giant oval is far too mature for what the client was looking for. I completely agree. You could even say this design could be on the verge of being adult.
